Additional BlackBerry features
There are many additional features on the BlackBerry, especially for email arrival. A belt holster comes with the purchase of a new BlackBerry
device. The device can be set to vibrate while in the holster and ring while
out of the holster upon receipt of an email message. With the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed, there is no
need to transfer emails to the BlackBerry device, but rather the device will
have access to the server. Therefore this is a viable solution for companies
whose IT Policy prohibits the forwarding of emails to unauthorized email accounts.

A BlackBerry device is a cellular phone with additional emailing capabilities. It is a device that is particularly powerful among traveling business users. It has been proved useful and dependable in handling corporate emails in the North American market, and is also available around the world throughout Europe and Asia from various wireless carriers. So why so popular?Emails are automatically "pushed" to the device There’s no longer a need to download emails to the
device, but rather emails are automatically "pushed" and downloaded to the device
as they are received. Combining this convenient function of the BlackBerry with
Namimail offers an easy-to-use and quick method of checking Japanese emails.
It is possible to set up a BlackBerry email address for your device (i.e. yourname@carrier.blackberry.net). In addition to this email account set up for your device, it is also possible to coordinate (send and receive) emails for additional POP3 accounts that you may be using separately (i.e. Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) Please refer to the BlackBerry website for a summary on the service and setup procedures: Large Screen and Easy-to-use QWERTY Keyboard
Simple Synchronization with the Office Server/PCIt is possible to synchronize your emails, calendar and contacts (in addition to other functions) wirelessly with your office or home computer. If using a MS Exchange or Lotus Domino groupware server, installing a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) will provide the wireless synchronization and security capabilities for full functionality of the BlackBerry device to be used as an alternative portal to the desktop or laptop PC. For example, when sending emails from the BlackBerry device
the email will be left in the “Sent” folder on your desktop PC, and when emails
are deleted from the Inbox on the BlackBerry device the same emails are deleted
from the Inbox of your PC.
US wireless carriers charge (approximately) the
following fees:
For new lines of service, a BlackBerry device typically costs $250-$350 per unit. Monthly service costs for Voice & Data are $40-$100. Depending on the service plan you select, monthly service fees will vary based
on the amount of time spent placing a call or the mount of traffic used for data
transmission. If a lot of Voice and Data will be used, the corresponding fees
will be high as well. The above description is at best a general reference and each wireless carrier will differ in their respective services offered and corresponding costs involved. Please check with your preferred wireless carrier for additional details on the BlackBerry-related services and costs involved. For further details on the BlackBerry solution, please refer
